【摘要】:Tensilepropertiesdeterminedbythistestmethodareofvaluefortheidentificationandcharacterizationofmaterialsforcontrolandspecificationpurposes.Tensilepropertiescanvarywithspecimenthickness,methodofpreparation,speedoftesting,typeofgripsused,andmannerofmeasuringextension.Consequently,whereprecisecomparativeresultsaredesired,thesefactorsmustbecarefullycontrolled.Thistestmethodshallbeusedforrefereepurposes,unlessotherwiseindicatedinparticularmaterialspecifications.Formanymaterials,therecanbeaspecificationthatrequirestheuseofthistestmethod,butwithsomeproceduralmodificationsthattakeprecedencewhenadheringtothespecification.Therefore,itisadvisabletorefertothatmaterialspecificationbeforeusingthistestmethod.Table1inClassificationD4000liststheASTMmaterialsstandardsthatcurrentlyexist.Tensilepropertiescanbeutilizedtoprovidedataforresearchanddevelopmentandengineeringdesignaswellasqualitycontrolandspecification.However,datafromsuchtestscannotbeconsideredsignificantforapplicationsdifferingwidelyfromtheload-timescaleofthetestemployed.Thetensilemodulusofelasticityisanindexofthestiffnessofthinplasticsheeting.Thereproducibilityoftestresultsisgoodwhenprecisecontrolismaintainedoveralltestconditions.Whendifferentmaterialsarebeingcomparedforstiffness,specimensofidenticaldimensionsmustbeemployed.Thetensileenergytobreak(TEB)isthetotalenergyabsorbedperunitvolumeofthespecimenuptothepointofrupture.Insometextsthispropertyhasbeenreferredtoastoughness.Itisusedtoevaluatematerialsthataresubjectedtoheavyabuseorthatcanstallwebtransportequipmentintheeventofamachinemalfunctioninend-useapplications.However,therateofstrain,specimenparameters,andespeciallyflawscancauselargevariationsintheresults.Inthatsense,cautionisadvisedinutilizingTEBtestresultsforend-usedesignapplications.Materialsthatfailbytearinggiveanomalousdatawhichcannotbecomparedwiththosefromnormalfailure.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftensilepropertiesofplasticsintheformofthinsheetingandfilms(lessthan1.0mm(0.04in.)inthickness).Note18212;FilmisdefinedinTerminologyD883asanoptionaltermforsheetinghavinganominalthicknessnogreaterthan0.25mm(0.010in.).Note28212;Tensilepropertiesofplastics1.0mm(0.04in.)orgreaterinthicknessshallbedeterminedaccordingtoTestMethodD638.1.2Thistestmethodcanbeusedtotestallplasticswithinthethicknessrangedescribedandthecapacityofthemachineemployed.1.3Specimenextensioncanbemeasuredbygripseparation,extensionindicators,ordisplacementofgagemarks.1.4Theprocedurefordeterminingthetensilemodulusofelasticityisincludedatonestrainrate.Note38212;Themodulusdeterminationisgenerallybasedontheuseofgripseparationasameasureofextension;however,thedesirabilityofusingextensometers,asdescribedin5.2,isrecognizedandprovisionfortheuseofsuchinstrumentationisincorporatedintheprocedure.1.5Testdataobtainedbythistestmethodisrelevantandappropriateforuseinengineeringdesign.1......
